Meet Eric Nadon
Renzo Gracie Ottawa Black Belt
I fell in love with Martial Arts in my early 20s, after playing hockey my whole life. I started out with kickboxing, then shifted to MMA where I gained experience in wrestling, boxing, and muay thai, but what drew me in the most was the power of BJJ. I trained relentlessly while I was working on the Protective Service on Parliament Hill. It was a hard decision but I chose to leave the service to pursue my passion of martial arts to compete at the international level. After a couple of years, I hung up my MMA gloves and dedicated my life to BJJ - studying, competing, and teaching.
In 2019, I received my black belt from Matt "Hammer" Hache through Renzo Gracie Ottawa and Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts, where I've hung my belt for the last ten years. His guidance and dedication to my growth as a practitioner and a teacher has truly formed the man and sensei I am. I have tremendous gratitude and appreciation for Hammer and it's my intention to pass that energy on to other's committed to the path of BJJ.
In my early years at OAMA, I taught a little bit of everything (MMA, muay thai, BJJ, wrestling) and also had the privilege of cornering many athletes in both amateur and professional fights. In recent years, my focus has been solely on BJJ - creating one of the best competitive teams in Canada and contributing to a flourish, inclusive culture at OAMA.
While you may still see me compete from time-to-time, my attention is on teaching and building an incredible team and community here at TORUS BJJ. If you're interested in seeing what we're about here at TORUS, come in for a free week. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to getting to know you too. See you on the mat.
Torus is the infinite flow of energy constantly circulating from one's inner world to the outer world. It represents the interconnectedness of all things.
Connecting to our torus means we move from our core and use our energy, with the intention of influencing the world around us. At TORUS BJJ, we come back to this universal truth of power from our core to evolve our martial arts practice, and also optimize our life.
